MP Liton murder: Ex-JaPa MP Quader gets life in arms case

A trial court has sentenced former Jatiya Party (JaPa) MP Abdul Quader Khan to lifetime imprisonment in an arms case filed over the murder of Gaibandha-1 MP Manjurul Islam Liton.

Judge Dilip Kumar Bhowmik of District and Session’s Judge Court pronounced the verdict today, examining records and witnesses.

On December 31, 2016, MP Liton was shot dead by miscreants at his village home at Masterpara in Bamandanga union of Sundarganj upazila.

On February 21, 2017, members of Detective Branch of Police arrested Abdul Quader Khan, former Jatiya Party MP from Gaibandha-1 constituency, in this connection.

On February 26, he gave a confessional statement before a trial court under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Acting on the information, police raided his house at Pashchim Chhaparhati village in Sundarganj upazila and seized a pistol, a magazine, and six rounds of bullets.
