The vote counting in the 11th parliamentary elections is underway after the voting came to an end at 4:00pm on Sunday.
According to the unofficial results obtained from returning officer’s office, Awami League-led Grand Alliance (boat) got 288 seats while BNP-led Jatiya Oikyafront (sheaf of paddy) bagged only 7 seats till now.
Earlier, the balloting began at 8:00am and concluded at 4:00pm amid allegations of irregularities and some sporadic violence.
At least 12 people were killed in election-related violence in several districts but the voting in the capital was almost peaceful.
However, voting was suspended at 22 polling centres throughout the country due to violence.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda told journalists that the overall voting situation across the country was well except some isolated incidents.
