BSF ‘Maitri Cycle Rally’ organized to mark the 100th Birth Anniversary of Banga Bandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rehman of Bangladesh, The rally will be completed in 66 days covering a total 4,097 kms distance and it will be passing through the states viz. West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya and Mizoram along the Indo- Bangladesh border. A journey which is to be completed by 13th Cyclist of BSF from West Bengal to Mizoram. The rally started on 10th Jan 2021 from BSF BOP Panitar, South Bengal and is expected to finish on 17th March’ 2021 at BSF BOP Sikore, Mizoram.
On 2nd Feb’ 2021, the “Maitri Cycle Rally” entered the state of Meghalaya through BOP Baldamgiri of 28 Bn BSF in South West Garo Hills and after 9 days of challenging journey in Meghalaya frontier, on 11th Feb’2021, the ‘Maitri Cycle Rally’ reached at BOP Dawki of 30 Bn BSF. The rally was felicitated by Sh Hardeep Singh, Inspector General accompanied by Sh U K Nayal, PPMG & Sh D Haokip, Dy inspector General’s BSF Meghalaya Frontier and Col. Md Amirul Islam, psc, Border Guard Bangladesh Sector Commander Sylhet and other officers from both the Border Guarding Forces. A cultural programme was organized at BOP Dawki in which various local traditional events were presented by School children and local villagers of the area. The “Maitri Cycle Rally” signifies friendship between Border Security Force and Border Guard Bangladesh.
During its 9 days journey in Meghalaya, various programs were organized by the Border Security Force at various Border Posts en route with the active participation of schools children’s, the local bodies & State Government officials.
As per schedule the Rally is expected to exit from BSF Meghalaya Frontier on 12 Feb, 2021 and enter BSF Mizoram & Cachar to finish its journey at BSF BOP Silkore under Mizoram.
Sh Umesh Kumar Nayal, DIG/PRO complimented all cyclists for displaying their physical fitness and determination to cover such a challenging terrain in a stipulated time. He also thanked all BGB officials who felicitated the Rally enroute and extended their cooperation to strengthen the existing friendship between the two Border Guarding Forces.
