The Election Commission will finalize its roadmap on May 23 to hold the 11th Jatiya Sangsad election, said Secretary of Election Commission Secretariat Mohammad Abdullah.
“The roadmap was presented before the commission meeting yesterday and threadbare discussions were held on its different aspects. Though, it was scheduled to finalize the roadmap yesterday, the commission thought it needed more scrutiny,” he told newsmen at his office.
The secretary said the roadmap will be published in book form after it will be finalized at the commission meeting on May 23.
Asked whether it will be possible to hold next general election with digital voting machine or not, Abdullah said it is yet to require more time to say about this as the system needs wider security.
Responding to another question about EC’s discussion with political parties, he said the roadmap has outlined every detail.
He went on saying “Before the finalization of roadmap, it cannot be said. But we have a plan to complete the process of dialogues with registered political parties by December this year”.
Chaired by Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda, the meeting was held on the roadmap formulated by the commission at the Agargaon’s Nirbachan Bhaban here.
